WIN - Report on regional research programmes on work and labour innovation

2009 – This report is based on the outcomes of the first regional workshop of the WORK-IN-NET(WIN) project in Bologna, Italy in 2005. The report summarizes the discussions of the workshop on regional research programs. The purpose of this meeting was to exchange information and best practices in the area of existing research programs and social innovation.  

WORK-IN-NET (WIN)
The WORK-IN-NET (WIN) was a Coordination Action (CA, 2005 – 2010) in the ERA-net and  aimed to collect, analyze and disseminate information on national activities in the field of innovation. By improving the quality of work and making more use of the creativity of the employees, Europe can keep up with the demands of today’s economy. The information was shared with other Member States of the European Union where workplace innovation is not yet on the agenda. WORK-IN-NET wanted to reduce economic and social disparities between European countries. 

The workshop
The workshop consisted of the presentation of three case studies and discussions on various topics. The case studies included 1) the structure of the research programs of work by the Ministry of Labour of Emilia-Romagna, Italy, 2) the analysis of the Norwegian regional project The development coalition Hordaland and Rogoland and 3) an example of cooperation between the state and a region in Germany.

The report
The main discussion points are discussed in this report. The focus is on:
• Definition of the term ‘ regional level’;
• Strategic objectives of regional research programs;
• Regional research programs and the development of partnerships;
• Implementation, monitoring and evaluation;
• Sources and fundraising.
